Minneopa State Park HTN Meet-Up!

Let's Go Hiking!

Its time for our MEET-UP Hike and explore the South! 

Hiking The North team is hitting the trails at Minneopa State Park! It's about 5 mile hike through some tall grass prairies, see some roaming bison, and eagles nesting on cottonwoods! You will get to enjoy part of the Minnesota River as you travel along side it on the trail.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Comfortable, broken-in hiking or running shoes.
  • A day backpack to carry your water bottle, snacks, lunch, and personal items that you might need. 
  • Water  
  • Snacks (trail-mix and granola bars are always a good choice)
  • Sunglasses 
  • Lip balm
  • Hat
  • Camera
  • Any First Aid items that is required for your well-being (personal medications, epi-pens).  Please be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with the guides.

*COST: FREE. This MEET UP is for you to meet other hikers and learn more about Hiking The North. There is a park fee of $7.
*WHO: Anyone is welcomed! Your fur babies, your kids, friends and family! Note: The hike is approximately 5 miles. Kids are welcomed if you think they could make the hike.
*TRAILS: The trails are intermediate. So please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring plenty of water to keep hydrated throughout your hike. (NOTE: We will keep you posted in weather conditions!)

If weather conditions change to thunderstorms and or severe conditions, we will cancel the event and re-schedule. We will keep you updated with weather conditions!  

NOT INCLUDED IN THE MEET UP:

  • Transportation to Minneopa is not included.

Wild River HTN Meet UP!

Summer is here!

Well almost. First day of Summer is June 21st and we want to celebrate Minnesota's couple summers in with you!

It's Meet Up Time!

Saturday June 23rd Hiking The North team is hitting the trails at Wild River State Park! Deer Creek Loop is a three mile loop starting at the Visitor Center. The trail crosses the scenic Deer Creek bridge and part of the trail is located along the historic Point Douglas to Superior Military Road (Old Military Road). So come and join us, come explore nature, and connect with other hikers! 

WHAT TO BRING

  • Comfortable, broken-in hiking or running shoes.
  • A day backpack to carry your water bottle, snacks, and personal items that you might need. 
  • Water  
  • Snacks (trail-mix and granola bars are always a good choice)
  • Sunglasses 
  • Lip balm
  • Hat
  • Any First Aid items that is required for your well-being (personal medications, epi-pens).  Please be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with the guides.

*TRAILS: The trails are intermediate. So please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring plenty of water to keep hydrated throughout your hike. (NOTE: Some parts of the trails are shaded!)

What does warm weather, green trees, wildflowers blooming, and birds singing mean? Ah yes, it means time to opt outside for some fresh air, exercise, rejuvenate, and go hiking! 

It's Meet Up Time!

This coming Saturday, Hiking The North team is hitting the trails at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park! It's about 3 mile hike through some woodland, grassland and wetland habitats of many species of wildlife! You will get to see the dam and enjoy part of the Mississippi River as you travel along side it on the trail.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Comfortable, broken-in hiking or running shoes.
  • A day backpack to carry your water bottle, snacks, and personal items that you might need. 
  • Water  
  • Snacks (trail-mix and granola bars are always a good choice)
  • Sunglasses 
  • Lip balm
  • Hat
  • Any First Aid items that is required for your well-being (personal medications, epi-pens).  Please be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with the guides.

*COST: FREE. This MEET UP is for you to meet other hikers and learn more about Hiking The North. There is no park fee and parking is free as well!
*WHO: Anyone is welcomed! Your fur babies, your kids, friends and family! Note: The hike is approximately 3-4 miles. Kids are welcomed if you think they could make the hike.
*TRAILS: The trails are intermediate. So please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. It is supposed to get up to 90 degrees on Saturday!  Bring plenty of water to keep hydrated throughout your hike. (NOTE: Some parts of the trails are shaded!) 

If weather conditions change to thunderstorms and or severe conditions, we will cancel the event and re-schedule. We will keep you updated with weather conditions!  

NOT INCLUDED IN THE MEET UP:

  • Transportation to Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park is not included.

Let's Go Snowshoeing: HTN Hikers Meet-UP!

Let's Go Snowshoeing!

With the winter storm coming, the trails will be full of snow! Lets take advantage of our winter by enjoying it by the river!

Don't have snowshoes? NO PROBLEM! The park rents them for $5. So please arrive early to rent them because they are first come first serve!

Never snowshoed before? NO WORRIES! Perfect time to try it out before you commit on your own snowshoes! We are here to guide you and help you through the trails!

This event is FREE! We want you to come out and meet your fellow hikers in the group! MEET UP TIME! WOOT WOOT!

Please dress for the winter weather! It's suppose to snow more (YEAH!) and it will be around 37 degrees. I will keep you posted on the weather.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Comfortable, broken-in winter boots
  • SNOWSHOES! :) 
  • Backpack
  • Snow pants, warm under layers, and a warm winter jacket
  • Water (insulated water bottles are best, camel backs tubes can freeze depending on temp) 
  • Snacks (trail-mix and granola bars are always a good choice)
  • Sunglasses 
  • Lip balm
  • Winter Hat, gloves, and scarf
  • Any First Aid items that is required for your well-being (personal medications, epi-pens).  Please be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with the guides.

*COST: FREE. This MEET UP is for you to meet other hikers and learn more about Hiking The North. There is a $5 dollar fee to rent snowshoes!
*WHO: Anyone is welcomed! Your fur babies, your kids, friends and family! Note: The hike is approximately 3-4 miles. Kids are welcomed if you think they could make the hike.
*TRAILS: The trails are intermediate. So please wear comfortable warm boots and warm clothing. Insulated water bottles would be best to keep hydrated throughout your hike. 

If weather conditions are extremely cold we will cancel the event and re-schedule. We will keep you updated with weather conditions!  

NOT INCLUDED WITH YOUR SNOWSHOEING 

  • Transportation to Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park is not included. We will help facilitate carpools for you after you register.
  • Snowshoes. Please rent them at the trail center. They are $5.
